Intimate knowledge of orca physiology, possession of firearms/ammunition combination with sufficient penetration and a willingness to defend ones self/family/friends would do the trick. If you're in an area where they're legal, hand grenades or rpg rounds would work even better.

Thanks for sharing, that's a far more objective and less sensationalist view of the whole thing than I have seen in the mainstream press. It would be great if there were some sort of "whale repellent", a scent that the whales find repulsive or frightening, that could at least stop an incident before it gets out of hand.

Can aquatic mammals smell in the water? Maybe a sound, like those deer whistles that can be affixed to a car to warn deer off the road.

That’s really interesting! The different diets and behaviors of orca species definitely add complexity to the situation. I agree, it seems like food competition could be a big factor in these attacks. It’s exciting that researchers are exploring ways to communicate with them—who knows, maybe that will lead to a solution!

Another study I read said essentially it's teenagers, that is, young Orcas playing a game, or pranking , by seeing who can rip the most rudders and other fins, off off boats. Who knows. When (or if) we learn to communicate with them, they will probably just tell us to F*** off.

It's a good thing they haven't gotten their flippers on some paint spray cans, just think of the pollution of they went around spraying graffiti on the bottom of boats.
