Dear fellow marine enthusiasts; I am finding this age of affordable, small scale, local, harnessing of electricity to be exciting. We are already at a point where sail boats on long voyages can run the gamut of safety electronics without starting an engine, and hopefully soon it will be so for propulsion, and we will be able to design boats capable of easy circumnavigations, propelled efficiently by electrical power generated aboard without running engines.

I think that circumnavigations are seldom, if ever, easy. Boat have been designed for millenia without internal combustion engines. All it takes is for people to learn how to sail. If you want to minimize your footprint, living with the least possible amount of stuff is the only way to go. I've done it, it's fun.
