MAIB has just released a interim report on the sinking of the Bayesian.
    Bayesian interim report published https://www.gov.uk/government/news/bayesian-interim-report-published
They consider the yacht to be in the arrival to port with 10% consumables condition. It was most probably so as they had the opportunity to talk to the Chief Engineer.
In the study we presented in march in the Gijón Congress we considered the departure from port 100% consumables one, and our aproach to the stability analysis is a bit different but the result is more or less the same: with a wind over 60 knots in the beam the vessel was condemned whatever the efforts of the crew.
    Regards.

The work LARGE SAILING YACHTS BARE MAST CFD HEELING ANALYSIS we presented at the 64th International Congress of Naval Architecture and Maritime Industry last march in Gijón, Spain, has two parts:

Part One: EFFECT ON THE STABILITY OF A STRONG TRANSVERSE GUST BEING THE VESSEL WITH NOT SAILS SET.
Part Two: DYNAMICS OF THE HEELING AND FLOODING

Part One has already been published in the May issue of the Revista de Ingeniería Naval, but it is only for subscribers. Part Two will be published in the June issue.

You may download Part One here:
    Dropbox https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/zmdj5rpvfgr35ie02dz00/LARGE-SAILING-YACHTS-PART-ONE-V3-ENGLISH-31-03-25.pdf?rlkey=kjn2uxjl7d3x9zx8qbtv1eowt&st=ojuvrkr3&dl=0

The study it is not specifically for the Bayesian but for a yacht of similar size and design. We hope you find it of interest. Commentaries/criticisms are welcome

"Starting gensets , main engines, steering pumps , lowering the ballast . How long it take and how many people is needed ?"

    ---

    Why ?

Why is responsibility always sought from the user?

Why is God, the Creator, untouchable, "Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus"?

The respect for the chain of Creators from the most powerful, is (imho) mind-blowing.

We know that the Almighty Brute who created this world is passionate about beetles, and dedicated a lot of time and care to designing beetles. And the rest was done without thinking, Almighty Force that obeys nothing and no one.

And from there on down, i see an amazing respect for the creators and always a tendency of seeking responsibility from the users.

    This yacht had

    1) a mast of astronomical size
    2) in the position of an 1880 sloop, and on top of that
    3) fuxxx furling sails and on top of the
    4) hull of a motorboat with a large engine room.

A Yacht that, to begin with, is impossible to bring its bow into the wind.

    @Guillermo Typo in table 8? 0.900 should be 0.090?

Also table 6 - VCG doesn't look right, or I don't know where the origin is.

Thanks for the analysis - particularly the dynamic portion.

    Hi again.
Yes, 0.900 is a typo, thanks.
Base line is at the lower part of the keelbox.
