The Rooster Tail did a wonderful job with the food and drinks, and the band, The Sun Messengers, was excellent. Michael Schoenith posed for some pictures with Union Dooz and Ping and I. He was an excellent host. A good time was had by all, and I can only hope that the event helped the Thunderfest Committee with their financial problems to some extent. They seem confident that there will be a race this year. There was a silent auction there, in which they had many pictures of Unlimiteds for auction, and other memorabilia type items such as autographed hats and whatnot. Also they were offering to have your picture taken with the Gold Cup for a fee of $25.00. Have a good Spring. For all of us in Michigan, it can't get here soon enough." - Dawn Barnes, Team Manager Union Dooz UL-58 A closer look at the

Board of Directors of the ULHRA New Appointment to the
Administration Gary Adams of Premiere Productions Inc., a Seattle area marketing firm, has been named Marketing Representative for the Unlimited Light Hydroplane Racing Association. Adams' addition to the administration formalizes an agreement in principle that was reached in late 2002. Adams succeeds Bo Darling in the lead marketing position for the series. Darling remains active with the association but as a retired business executive asked to be relieved of the primary marketing duties that he assumed when the ULHRA was formed in the fall of year 2000. His successes, including attracting sponsorships and new race site agreements, are numerous. VP Malara said the appointment of Adams and his company is "another positive step in growing the ULHRA. It provides the association with a professional marketing services company to build upon what's been developed over the past two years". The series has advanced steadily. There were 7 races and 14 race teams competing in 2001, and those figures grew to 8 races and 19 teams in 2002. New teams announced are expected to again increase the number of competitors in ULHRA competition. Plus the addition of Port Angeles WA provides a new race venue that extends the season into the month of October. Malara added that Adams and his company will focus on developing new ULHRA series sponsorships, but can also assist race sites and race teams in developing marketing strategies. UL-58 display

attend. A crane and rescue team will be on site for the event. Local media should be on hand covering the event and we invite friends and fans of the series to join us. This event is a nice kick-off to the 2003 season and
it is our hope that it will become a regular feature of the ULHRA schedule. Home away from home...
