    Hi,

im needing to laminate up a new deck hatch to 25mm with a 18mm ply core. My question is in addition to the gelcoat and ply how many layers of 450 csm would it roughly take?

    thanks

Perhaps I should mention the alternative is a 15mm ply core.

If gc both sides, subtract 0.040.

So, less 1mm is 6mm laminate thickness with a 1mm allowance for fairing is 5mm. 450 gsm csm is 0.7mm consolidated, so 5/0.7 is 7 layers, but that is just odd, so I’d round down to 3 each side and fair it up to desired. Or do 3 each side and measure and add one each side..

I have little experience with csm, so see what others say as well.
