    Hi everyone,

I'm currently facing issues transferring a hull model from CATIA V5 to Maxsurf. Despite several attempts, I haven't been able to get the hull to display correctly in Maxsurf.

I tried using Rhino as an intermediate step: exporting from CATIA in IGES and STEP formats, importing into Rhino, then exporting again as IGES, 3DM, or DXF. Unfortunately, Maxsurf either doesn't recognize the geometry properly or fails to import it.

    I’m reaching out to ask:

    • Has anyone successfully transferred a hull from CATIA V5 to Maxsurf?

Hi Hamza, as I haven't worked with Catia yet I didn't experienced issues but I've had issues exporting from Rhino to Maxsurf.

What exactly do your problems look like?

    Hi Mc_rash forum.jpg
I work on boat design using CATIA V5, then switch to Maxsurf for hydrodynamic analysis and other studies. However, during this transition, I lose some surfaces and curves. The main issue is that I can’t recover my hull. Do you have a solution? For example, in this hull, I couldn’t retrieve the bow and transom surfaces.

Could you provide us with an .igs or .dxf file of your hull so we can analyze it?
